Here are some practical examples:
1. Horizontally moving objects with no additional thrust

v =1.5 m/s

Impact kinetic energy: w1 = 0.5*m*v*v = 112.5 Nm
Thrust work: w2 = 0
Total impact energy : w3 = w1 + w2 = 112.5 Nm
